Bidi optical module has compact structure and is mainly used in optical communication field, including telecommunication and bidirectional data communication. Single fiber bi-directional, or bidi, means that in a single optical fiber, optical signals in both directions can be transmitted and received at the same time, just like the positive and negative lanes on the road separated by the isolation belt, and the vehicles on both sides drive in their respective lanes without mutual interference. The conventional optical fiber transmission is single fiber unidirectional, so to achieve two-way communication requires two optical fibers.


For example, this terminal transmits 1310 nm optical signal and receives 1550 nm optical signal at the same time. The opposite end uses the opposite wavelength to the local end, that is, it emits 1550 nm optical signal and receives 1310 nm optical signal. Therefore, the module must be used in pairs at both ends of the link. The common wavelengths of single fiber bidirectional optical module are 1310nm / 1490nm and 1510nm / 1590nm.
