General Description

HTF’HTSX-B495596Zx/ HTSX-B554996Zx SFP+ transceiver is designed for use in 10-Gigabit Ethernet links up to 80km over single mode fiber. HTSX-B495596Zx/HTSX-B554996Zx transceivers provide a unique enhanced digital diagnostic monitoring interface, which allows real-time access to device operating parameters such as transceiver temperature, laser bias current, transmitted optical power, and received optical power and transceiver supply voltage. The SFP+ MSA defines a 256-byte memory map in EEPROM that is accessible over a 2-wire serial interface at the 8 bit address 1010000X (A0h).

1、Question:I wish to connect two switches in my network rack. I can use the 1000BASE-T RJ45 connectors or SFP. Why should I consider using SFP?

Answer:The backplane on the switches may be designed so that the SFP ports have dedicated bandwidth specifically designed to cross-connect switches. A “uplink port”, so to speak. If that’s the case, you will get better throughput and lower latency between switches using the SFP ports because they’re configured differently on the backplane but not necessarily because of the ports themselves.

2、Question:Which would I choose, SFP+ or 10GBase-T?Why?

Answer:SFP+ and 10Gbase-T are applied on different deployment environment. Depends on the current conditions:

(1)Distance requirement: SFP+ optical transceivers (SR/ LR/ ER/ ZR) support up to 80km; 10GBASE-T transmits up to 30m.

(2)Cables to be connected: SFP+ optics should be connected with LC patch cords, while 10G-T copper module with CAT6 copper rj-45 cable.

(3)Device/Switch to be deployed: also we have to consider the compatibility of the switch, not all SFP+ port supports 10GBASE-T.
