OADM (Optical Distribution Module) is an optical device used for the relay and multiplexing of unidirectional optical fiber links (unidirectional optical fiber links) and has the following advantages:
1. High flexibility: OADM can add or delete channels as needed to achieve on-demand configuration.
2. Low loss: The insertion loss of OADM is small and will not have much impact on the system.
3. Obvious price advantage: Compared with other optical equipment, the price of OADM is lower.
OADM is widely used in data centers, short-distance communications, limited bandwidth networks, wide area networks, fiber-to-the-home and other fields.
In data centers, OADM is often used for fiber optic links across racks and computer rooms to improve the reliability and flexibility of the data center's internal network.
In short-range communications, OADM is used in the "last mile" of fiber optic channels to multiplex signals before distributing terminals.
In limited-bandwidth networks, OADM can be used in a variety of applications, such as digital television, video conferencing, security monitoring, etc.
In wide area networks, OADM is used as a relay for optical fiber communications to ensure signal transmission quality and data security.

DWDM OADM modules are available in single-side (East or West) and dual-side (East and West) configurations. With matching MUX/DEMUX units placed at each end of an optical link, multiple data channels can be combined and transmitted over a single-mode fiber trunk. The passive OADM modules can add or drop 2, 4, 8 data channels at any point along the trunk.
